Q: Will Fare & Square provide jobs?
A: Fare & Square provides 45 jobs for Chester, and will hire from Chester whenever possible. We also use local vendors from Chester and Delaware County whenever we can.
Q: What types of products does Fare & Square offer?
A: Fare & Square sells food staples with a focus on fresh produce, meats, deli, dairy, seafood, and frozen foods at everyday low prices, as well as other grocery basics.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily

Q: Can anyone shop at Fare & Square?
A: Anyone can shop at Fare & Square as long as they sign up for a free annual membership and have a means to purchase food. If someone does not have the means to pay for food, we refer them to one of our member agencies in Chester. We also help residents apply for SNAP benefits.
Q: What are the benefits of being a member?
A: The benefits of membership in Fare & Square include everyday low prices, discounts and incentives, and access to Fare & Square’s selection of food staples and fresh foods. Eligible members will also receive money back in the form of “Carrot Cash” to be applied to future purchase(s), along with being able to stretch their dollar by utilizing SNAP benefits.
Q: What about WIC?
A: We accept WIC.
Q: Why does Fare & Square require a membership?
A: We require FREE memberships at Fare & Square in order to make sure we are meeting the need in the community and to provide reports for future funding of the store.
Q: How do you receive carrot cash benefits?
A: In order to receive carrot cash benefits we ask individuals and families to provide some additional household and/or income information.
Q: What will you do with the household information?
A: It will be collected to help us look at household demographics and shopping habits, but we will not share any individual personal information without permission. We may also mail members store information.
Q: What if you don’t have your card with you?
A: You can be looked up at check-out by the phone number on the membership account.
Q: How many people/households can be on a card?
A: One household per membership.
Q: What if I can’t remember my phone number?
A: Membership Services located at the Fare & Square Store Community Center can help locate your membership information.
Q: Can I shop without being a member?
A: Yes. It will result in a small markup on certain categories. The benefit of membership is that this markup will not occur.
